Did you know that
Café Jorden
was originally called
Café Jorn?
The History of Café Jorden
In March 1985, Café Jorn—which we know today as Café Jorden—in Pustervig opened its doors to the public. The original concept for the café was to create a cultural center with a café on the ground floor and exhibition and theater spaces, named after the artist Asger Jorn. However, Jorn’s heirs did not agree to this idea, and the café was quickly renamed Café Jorden, which in the Aarhus dialect sounds like “Jorn.” ('Jorden' means 'The Earth' in Danish.)
Here's where you can find us
Where can I find Cafe Jorden?
Our address is Badstuegade 3, DK-8000 Aarhus C, right in the heart of the Latin Quarter—the oldest and coziest part of downtown Aarhus, with narrow cobblestone streets and many specialty shops. The café is right next to Pustervig Torv, which is just a few minutes’ walk from Lille Torv, Store Torv, and Aarhus Cathedral.
Are you driving? Here are some parking options:
There is street parking on Guldsmedegade and Borggade, but spaces are often in high demand, so it’s usually easier to find a spot in one of the nearby parking garages.
We recommend parking in the parking garage next to the Magasin Department Store, located at Åboulevarden 80, 8000 Aarhus. Please note that parking in downtown Aarhus is metered.
